For spring, summer and fall use, there is a sports field, 140-foot waterslide, volley & tether & basketball area, human size foosball court, pond and campfire. We have several nature trails as well as a step waterfall. Deer, bear, moose, turkey, partridge, rabbits, coyotes, martins, hawks, owls, hummingbirds and other birds and other types of wildlife have been seen or heard on camp property. We have many trees ranging from pines, hemlock, furs & cedars to hardwoods like beech, maple, white & yellow & gray birch and ironwood as well as other plant and shrub life. On the property, there is a brook which includes a step waterfall, several seasonal brooks, a pond, wetlands, a field and mountain terrain. The property, in the 1800’s, was a farm and you still can see many stone walls around. We are currently constructing a challenge/initiative course.
Mt. Blue State Park on Webb Lake is a 20 minute drive from camp. They have a beach, nature Center and many trails to hike. We use their beach for swimming. For hiking, there are 4 local mountain trails including Tumbledown, Little Jackson and Mt. Blue. The trail for Blueberry Mtn. starts here on camp property. Within 1-1/2 hours, there are several large ski areas including Saddleback, Sunday River, Mt. Abram and Sugarloaf. There are also several scenic state parks nearby including Grafton Notch, Smalls Falls, Rangely Lakes, Coos Canyon (gold panning), Mt. Blue and Mt. Blue State Park.
Inside the Diradourian Lodge, we have a foosball and pool table, ping-pong, a gym with a basketball hoop and many table games available. During the winter, we have three (3)-- ½ mile sledding trails that are extremely popular with groups that come. If conditions are right, there is ice skating on our pond and cross-country ski trails. Skis and boots are available.
The main building is a ski lodge type building consisting of 5 dorm rooms with two complete bathrooms, a chapel, dining hall, kitchen, fellowship/game room and gym. In the chapel, dining hall and fellowship rooms, there are large fireplaces and wood stoves, which provide a nice touch, as well as all the warmth you will need. The fellowship room is a nice cozy warm room to fellowship in after sledding, skating or skiing outside in the cold in the winter time.
There are many other activities that we can do, depending on your group and your creativity. We are not limited by the four walls, terrain or woods. We are able to teach a limited amount of nature classes.
